I have never understood the concept of people getting stuck in rhythms, cycles, or seasons of their lives and not doing what it takes to transition themselves to be able to move forward !!
Most people think of their lives as a single huge event – for those who have great ambition it is a straight vertical line that must be climbed and those who have far less ambition it is a horizontal straight line that has to be walked on (no real end in sight, just more of the same until you die) . The thoughts of most of the ambitious is that there is some kind of grand prize at the end of the line !!! And most of the others haven’t bothered to think about what’s next they are just surviving and maintaining in their today !!! BOTH OF THESE MINDSETS ARE LIMITING ..
Listen I am a goal setting person !! I don’t believe you will achieve anything past mediocrity and surviving without goal setting. Great things are only achieved when you believe and do something bigger than your personal capacity !!
However, I have learned great lessons in my years of goal setting and being driven to the prize!! ..…YOU FORGET TO ENJOY THE JOURNEY !! Our life is not and cannot be a perfect straight line of events that have all been planned and every response calculated and expected !!! There is no such thing… if you are walking your life out like this you need to breathe !! This is boring and there is no joy in that !! One day years ago I got this Great Revelation… YOUR WHOLE LIFE IS THE JOURNEY ... you reach your goal in a moment !! We will work for years to obtain a thing as our goal.. then one day it is ours !! In one day you now have the thing desired …. That is great !!! I believe in that !!! But my question for you or my challenge to you is what kind of life did you live for the last few years or however long it took to get that one thing !!!
I repeat myself….. The goal setting…. The planning for the victory…… doing what it takes to obtain the prize….. obtaining the prize !!! That is the journey right?? Ok the obtaining of the journey was the final DAY !!
What kind of life did you have on your way to the prize for the years it took to obtain… !!!! WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR IT !!!!
Too many times I have watched this driven lifestyle get to their supposed goal and find it very empty when they arrive. They have alienated spouses and children and have missed years of events and joyous times for their moment of obtaining. I said moment of obtaining !!! They have missed the years and times that matter the most to others, and should have to them, to only show up with a prize they are so proud of… that no one cares about but them now. That is just too DRIVEN… and all too often where a great portion of our society exists !!!
What kind of life is it if you don’t get to have a real life until you obtain something !!! (example) No kid cares about that huge house you were working day and night for when it was a lonely place for them to grow up in due to your lack of participation in their lives. They would have rather lived in a smaller house and had their parents raise them and be at their games !!! Trust me in this… one day you will realize you let years get by you that you can never get back and wish you could !! Something happens when you get older, the stuff that really matters starts to become evident.. The problem is .. Now it is too late !! Those years are gone and there is no getting them back !!!
LISTEN – HAVE AN EAR TO HEAR…….ENJOY THE JOURNEY…. KEEP YOUR GOALS IN PERSPECTIVE OF THE TOTALITY OF YOUR LIFE !!!!
LIVE FOR THE QUALITY OF LIFE NOT JUST THE QUANTITY OF STUFF !!!
For those who are the… let life happen… no plans kind of people… this is what I am … always have been … always will be… everything is just good enough… nothing great…but hey that’s OK !! You are worse than the other !!!
I would rather have to help someone learn how to slow down a little and reposition their vision to what they might be missing… then to try to raise the dead!!!
That mindset is one of mediocrity at best and lazy !!!
We should if nothing else be becoming greater or learning from those who went before us.
V and I promised ourselves that the things we have earned to be, will be where our children get to start from in life …allowing them to build on the foundations of our lives to achieve greater victories !!! We have taught them they can be great at anything they want to become, we were and are there to remind them all the time !! We want them to outrun us, and obtain greatness … so we made it our life goal to be an example of the things they needed to see and experience to have that mindset. No one gave it to us.. We chose one day to change our future and did!!… We were there for them… we overcame obstacles in front of them….made choices they could be proud of ….pushed ourselves past our cultural boundaries to show them how….worked hard to overcome limitations….. educated ourselves for our future.
We should not be something that our children have to overcome.. in mindsets and behaviors…. we should be something that our children can platform from to achieve greatness.
And I am talking as people… in their families ….in their careers etc…
We are responsible for what we have built and called our lives !!
If you are one of the latter types …. Get off your lazy butt…think enough about yourself and your children to be someone that adds to this world and not just someone who exists in it. Take some control of your future !!! First you have to believe you can have one and then change something to get it !!

There is no way you were always like this.. Something has happened in your life to make you think it has to be this way and that is not true. It does not matter if everyone else in your family…. blah.. blah… blah.. You are not them !! V and I are completely different than anyone in our families. We decided we wanted to hand our children a better life than what was handed to us. We went on a journey to find out how !!! My God if you are this kind of person…let your journey begin with Believing In Yourself and Grow !!!

FIND YOUR BALANCE IN LIFE ……….ENJOY THE JOURNEY……AND WHEN YOU
